Paul & Kim

With the memories of Christina and Andy’s five tiered wedding cake slowly sauntering further and further away I was reminded of how lovely a wedding can be with even the smallest of cakes.

This cake was for the wedding of Paul and Kim held on a dock overlooking Lake Allatoona this past Fourth of July weekend. It was a simple wedding with a few guests and a simple cake to add to the celebrations. Kelly, the other half of K&K Confectionary created this red velvet cake at the request of the bride and groom.

Congratulations Paul and Kim!

Save the best for last...

With three days of pizza boxes piling up in the garbage and what looks like the makings of a wedding cake showing its sugary head in the fridge, it's hard to control the excitement for the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you haven't done the math, or don't know how it works, a five layer wedding cake is TEN individual cakes! I don't know about you, but I think that is A LOT of cake.

However big or small, rest assured all that hard work is sure to pay off in the end for one lucky bride.

Teasing Taste Buds...

It doesn't take but a big dip of your finger into a bowl of cake batter to know the end result will be a tease for the taste buds.

Bride and groom Chrissy and Andy chose a five layer cake with FOUR different flavors:

strawberry
lemon

carrot
and chocolate!

Brides come in all bridezilla phases; some don't care and some care too much. Chrissy's been planning her wedding for almost a year and meeting with her was a treat. Her attitude was right in the middle. She knew just what she wanted and when to ask for expert help.

Meet Tony...

Being a professional pallet pleaser is not just sugar, spice and all things nice. Or maybe it is? First you are tortured by taste testing cake and icing, and then you get sent into the mob of wedding guests for praise and admiration.

It’s hard work, but in the end the final product is worth it. So let’s stroll through a few days in the life of a wedding cake baker…

First things first. I would like to introduce you to
Tony.

(Say it like you're Italian.)Tony is my RED KitchenAid Mixer, isn't he pretty?
